Social Activities

The lower mainland has a plethora of social activities for people with disabilities and seniors. We can point you in the right direction for the programs that you or your loved ones would most enjoy. Some communities offer programs that include transportation as well.

Below are a few centres that offer a variety of programs within Vancouver.
Vancouver Community Centres
The Vancouver Park Board operates, along with community-based Associations, a community centre in each of our 23 neighbourhoods. These centrally located facilities serve all ages and offer a wide range of resources that focus on recreational, social and cultural pursuits. Programs can include fitness, arts and crafts, culture, dance, swimming, skating, child care and a multitude more. Residents use these centres of activities as meeting places to exchange ideas and meet new friends.
Adapted Programs
Many of the cities programs have been adapted to enable people with various disabilities to participate. A list of facilities that offer a wide variety of programs, including adapted aquatic programs, is shown below.
Leisure Access Card Program (LAC)
Leisure Access Cards provide Vancouver residents who have limited income a reduction in fees for basic Vancouver Park Board programs and services. Applications for Leisure Access Cards are available for download below, and at all community centres.
